"Seeing" beyond walls? New imaging modalities for through-the-wall radar systems

The Applied Electromagnetics Group at DITEN has started a research activity concerning the development of innovative imaging modalities for through-the-wall radar systems

Many humanitarian applications exist, especially in the field of security and rescue. The research is funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) in the framework of Projects of Relevant National Interest (PRIN), for which the University of Genoa is the Prime Investigator. The idea is to develop new antenna systems and new imaging modalities to combine measurements acquired by sensors located at some distances from the wall with images taken in contact with the structure. The results of this activity may allow new knowledge concerning antennas, propagation, and inverse problem solutions. The consortium is composed by the University of Calabria, University of Genoa, University of Rome "La Sapienza", and the University of Roma Tre.
